What the record says
In May 1960, Mossad officers captured Adolf Eichmann in Argentina and brought him to Israel. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum documents his role in the Holocaust and his subsequent trial. Separately, the UN Security Council records Argentina’s June 1960 complaint that his transfer violated its territorial sovereignty.
Our reading
These records address different questions: accountability for a perpetrator of the Holocaust, and the international consequences of a cross-border operation. Reading both makes the history more legible.
